Speaker: Dr. Natalie MacLeod Schroeder Dr Natalie MacLeod Schroeder has been an occupational therapist for more than 30 years, and an occupational therapy educator for more than 20 years. She holds a PhD in education with research interests in transformative teaching, learning and leadership, and professional identity. As an instructor in the department of occupational therapy in the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, she has become an advocate for accessibility of professional programs to those students (and faculty) who identify as disabled, mad and/or neurodivergent. This interest grows out of her own lived experience with these identities as a student, therapist and educator, and bearing witness to the struggles of her students and colleagues. In 2023, MacLeod Schroeder received the Helen P. Levesconte Award for Volunteerism from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists in recognition of her extensive and career-long contributions to the profession of occupational therapy. This Illuminate event reprises and expands upon her address to the profession at the award ceremony. Recorded March 6, 2024.
